How much does therapy cost?
Counselling/psychotherapy and assessment services are provided at a rate of $200 per hour. This covers both your counselling hour and the additional time taken to ensure the most accurate assessment possible, along with formulating your individualised treatment plan and providing you with personalised resources that you can keep for yourself.
Additional time beyond the above is billed in 15-minute increments, i.e. pro-rated at $50 per 15 minutes.
Payment is accepted via all major credit cards, Interac e-transfer, or cash, due at each session.
Will my health insurance cover my therapy sessions?
Clients are responsible for knowing and understanding the details of their own insurance policies. Any insurance that covers Registered Provisional Psychologists is accepted, but direct billing is currently only available for GreenShield and Blue Cross. Clients will be provided with receipts for services in order to claim from their insurance.
Do you offer a sliding scale/reduced fees?
Yes, reduced fee slots are available based on sustainability. Please contact me directly or book a free consultation so we can discuss further.
Do I have to have sessions every week?
Not necessarily – it depends on your needs and circumstances. I will always collaborate with you to find a schedule that works for you.
What’s the difference between a Registered Provisional Psychologist and a Registered Psychologist?
As a Registered Provisional Psychologist, I am required to maintain regular appointments with my supervisor. This means that I’ll likely talk to my supervisor about your situation, although I will avoid sharing your Personal Health Information.
On the up side, this means you get two brains working for you instead of just one, and at a lower rate than the current going rate for Registered Psychologists.
How long is a therapy session?
Sessions are typically one therapy hour long (50 minutes long with 10 minutes for report/session note writing). Two-hour sessions are also available for couples counselling. Please contact me if you would like to book sessions of a different duration.
Do you offer online therapy?
Yes, I offer online therapy in the sense that our sessions can be virtual/remote, and I offer an online portal with personalised resources you can easily access outside of the therapy hour. I also offer in-person therapy at my office in southeast Calgary.
What if I need to cancel a therapy session?
A late cancellation fee of $100 will apply if you cancel within 24 hours of your appointment. A no-show fee of $150 will apply if you do not show up for your appointment.
Do you work with children?
No; I currently work only with adult individuals and couples.
Do you work with people living outside of Alberta, Canada?
No; as a Registered Provisional Psychologist, I am licensed to provide services only to those currently located in the province of Alberta.
Is Accelerated Resolution Therapy like Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)?
It is in the sense that it uses bilateral eye movements to help activate the parts of the brain that encode and re-encode memories, but it draws from various other approaches as well and has a reputation for reducing the likelihood of things feeling like they’re getting worse before getting better.
